She grants them some modicum of intelligence and imagination. While I love the Harry Potter series, Jones has been a truly original writer in what could variously be considered YA or Adult fiction an argument could be made for each.

It is full of DWJ’s magic and brilliant characters that come to life and jump off the page at you. Its denizen must be a stammerer! F bombs, sex scenes, dugs—none of these freak me out.
Additionally, I found some of the content very upsetting. Earth contained half the universe and had taught him everything he knew.
